Quilombos and quilombolas in the Amazon Webnar

Ecam and CONAQ will hold a webinar on Thursday to launch the publication “Quilombos and Quilombolas in the Amazon - the challenges of knowledge”. The event will be on CONAQ´s facebook (fb.me/conaquilombos/) at 15h on July 2nd.
The work will present the results from the “New Technologies and Traditional Peoples” and “Sharing Worlds” programs, which run through six Legal Amazon states and 107 Quilombola communities. The project, which is part of the PCAB, is a partnership between USAID/Brasil, ECAM, Google Earth Outreach and the National Coordination of the Black Quilombola Rural Communities (CONAQ).

The programs trained representatives from the communities, especially young people, in digital tools so that they could gather data themselves. Quilombo communities from Amapá, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Pará, Rondônia e Tocantins.
The publication launch will be virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which isolated the communities to try to avoid the virus propagation. The webinar will have the participation of representatives from ECAM, CONAQ and an infectologist specialist.
