Video: Biodiversity Monitoring at Jamari National Forest
The Jamari National Forest (FLONA) in Rondonia state, has around 220,000 hectares. It was one of the first concessions forprivate sustainable timber extraction in protected areas. . Even with managed, sustainable harvests,, it is necessary to monitor the impact on local fauna. IPÊ in collaboration with the Chico Mendes Institute of Biodiversity (ICMBio), local community and partners developed Participatory Biodiversity Monitoring. The project fosters knowledge exchange between experts and communities, as well as capacity building and education in support of forest monitoring. Learn more at:
