'Enraíza PPA' Will Invest Millions in Ongoing Sustainable Initiatives
September, 2022 - The "Enraíza PPA: For Sociobiodiverse & Sustainable Amazons" initiative will accept applications from ongoing projects in the Legal Amazon until October 14. Including municipalities in the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, and Tocantins.
Enraíza PPA will support two types of projects in the Legal Amazon: those focused on Impact Business Strengthening and those aiming to promote Territorial Development in the region with a R$ 5 million investment. The initiative results from a strategic partnership between the Partnership Platform for the Amazon (PPA), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT.
“The Amazon Forest needs new economic solutions to contain deforestation pressures and improve the quality of life for its more than 25 million inhabitants. Since its foundation in 2017, the PPA has supported different initiatives led by its partners that are committed to sustainable development and the strengthening of enterprises and businesses in the Brazilian Amazon,” says Augusto Corrêa, PPA Executive Secretary.
The call enables the expansion of ongoing initiatives, thus being an effective instrument to leverage resources, catalyze change, and engage organizations that have an active presence in the region. “We seek to strengthen programs and projects that already have some funding and have been running for at least 12 months. In addition to supporting partners who already have considerable knowledge and experience, we are strongly committed to the sustainability and improvement of these initiatives," says Denyse Mello, PPA Project Manager.
On October 10, PPA will host a webinar to discuss the proposal request rules and clarify any doubts in both funding areas. Streaming will start at 5 p.m. on the PPA YouTube channel, and a recording will be available on the Enraíza website.
Applications must be submitted October 14, 2022 via the Enraíza website or through the Prosas platform.
PPA is a multisectoral collective action initiative that aims to develop and identify innovative and tangible solutions for sustainable development and conservation of biodiversity, forests, and natural resources in the Brazilian Amazon. Created at the end of 2017, the PPA seeks to leverage positive socioenvironmental impact investment in the region, share good practices, and foster innovative partnerships that integrate all sectors of society.
This is achieved through the development of partnerships capable of contributing to the visions about Amazon quality of life, rich biodiversity, and sustainable use of its natural resources.
