PPA Solidarity opens Expression of Interest for new phase of project
PPA Solidarity, the multi sector partnership led by USAID, NPI Expand, the Partnership Platform for the Amazon (PPA) and SITAWI, opened a call for expression of interest from implementers for a new phase of the Project. There are $5 million available for implementers for projects that aim to accelerate widespread and equitable access to and delivery of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccinations, and reduce morbidity and mortality from COVID-19, mitigate transmission, and strengthen health systems, including prevention, detection, and response to pandemic threats.
There will be a two-stage selection process: first, potential implementers must send an expression of interest with a concept note and institutional documents by the 24th of December. After a pre-selection, organizations will be invited to submit a full proposal. Eligible organizations must be Brazilian civil society organizations registered with the competent authorities, and show technical and implementation capacity, as well as having experience in health, COVID-19 relief or experience in the Brazilian Amazon, as well as having the capacity to work in the region.

To date, the PPA Solidarity partnership has distributed more than 23,000 food baskets and hygiene kits, trained more than 500 community health agents, donated more than 1.4 million non-medical masks produced by local seamstresses, and delivered life-saving prevention messages for more than 875,000 people in the region. The partnership has also supported more than 720 entrepreneurs and 25 businesses with financial and business advisory services to mitigate the economic impacts of COVID-19 in the Amazon Region.
