Young people from Faro, Terra Santa and Oriximiná debate social media and learn media literacy

ECAM has conducted “Educommunications” workshops between the 24th and 31st of September in the Faro, Terra Santa, and Oriximina municipalities of Pará state as part of the Sustainable Territories Program. The objective was to learn the advantages, benefits, and dangers of social media and fake news. The workshops are part of the activities that began in July and are aimed at empowering and strengthening the associations, unions, councils, and other representatives, as well as promoting the engagement of young adults. The workshops focused on writing for the web, video and script editing, creation of web pages, social media, as well as debates over the phenomena of “Fake news” - what it means, how media demonstrates bias, or not, and how to detect fact-based reporting.
