Fourth and final PPA Acceleration Program workshop takes place
The Acceleration Program of the Partnership Platform for the Amazon (PPA) held its last on-site workshop on August 28 and 30, in Alter do Chão, Pará. As in previous events, it was attended by representatives of the 15 projects included in the program. This time, the activities focused on finance, investment and storytelling.
During the three days of the workshop, participants worked on topics such as online marketing for Amazon products, introduction to accounting, net income and cash flow, profit and loss statement, future projections, pitch deck and storytelling. The facilitators were Leonardo Letelier and Fernanda Dativo, from SITAWI, and Laura Motta, from Mercado Livre.
According to Derek Gallo, the workshop was a success. He is the cofounder of Awi Super Foods, one of the accelerated companies. Their current products are “superfood” sorbets – which are high nutrition and low calorie foods like açai. Their factory is in Marajó island, with products being sold in São Paulo. “The courses were very good and covered several important topics. The network of companies and partners, as well as the support and consultancy helps a lot”, he said, highlighting some of the themes from these past months”. His expectation is that the “family” of companies and partnerships formed through the PPA will stay in touch and continue to collaborate for a long time.
Another activity included in the workshop was a visit to the Belterra Rural Working Women Association (Amabela), which is about 40 minutes from Alter do Chão and brings together 45 women. Ten entrepreneurs took part in the visit. The institution is a reference for promoting the production and consumption of pesticide-free food in the region, and for protecting the environment.
Even though the 2019 on-site workshops have now ended, the group of entrepreneurs will continue to receive individual guidance until the end of this year.
